Join us for a fun, interactive virtual workshop that will help your family have shame-free talks about sexualized media and porn.
Through a mix of activities, videos, breakout rooms, and fun games- guided by trained educators- families of tweens and teens (ages 9-15) will learn media literacy skills that help young people become safer and more critical thinkers in this digital world. Our facilitators use a combination of community-based activities, engaging the entire group of families together, as well as age-based activities that segment the group into two breakouts that allow families of tweens (ages 9-12) and families of teens (ages 13-15) to experience content that is relevant to their developmental stage. Through this approach, our Growing Into You!™ family-style, gender-inclusive workshops reinforce the power of family and community support systems to disrupt taboos.
In this workshop, participants will learn:
💡How to apply media literacy skills across different forms of media in everyday life, including social media
💡Porn literacy skills that keep kids safer online
💡How to talk about topics like sexualized media and porn more comfortably as a family (and why it’s important not to avoid)
💡Answers to their many amazing questions
At least one young person, age 9-15, and one parent/caregiver must be present to participate. Registration cost is $40 USD per family. As a gift for attending, families also receive access to a digital guide with activities and additional resources to support the continued talks and learning.
